The Language Flagship will invest in the development of a domestic campus-based center in critical African languages that focuses on the development of undergraduate programs. The languages offered may include Swahili, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Zulu. The African Languages Flagship Center, like other Flagship Centers, will include an intensive language study in an overseas environment in addition to the domestic studies of the program.
The Language Flagship recently released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for development of the new domestic African Languages Flagship Center. Proposals are being considered at this time and a selection will be made in the summer of 2008.
